the collective cookbook

Rachel Bush is raising funds for The Collective Cookbook on Kickstarter! We're celebrating food culture digitally by creating a PDF cookbook full of recipes, stories, and social handles from folks worldwide.

This Kickstarter raised nearly $6,000 and had 100 backers.

I used to be a bit protective of my recipes.

(Okay, I was very protective of my recipes.) But after multiple requests, and a stern talking to from my momma, I gave in and begrudgingly shared my Nana’s Coconut Cream Pie recipe* with a group of friends.

After that, the most magical thing happened: Every time a friend made that recipe, they’d send me a quick picture and a note about why they were making the pie, or how it went for them, or who they were baking for. My grandmother passed away six years ago but every time I get a note with a picture of her pie, she lives on.

Since then, I have come to believe there is power in recipe sharing. When you jot down or email a recipe to a friend, you’re offering them a chance to engage with a bit of your history, your story.

And that’s what the Collective Cookbook is all about. Together, we have created something unique that honors our individual histories while celebrating a larger community.

In this cookbook, you’ll find some good laughs, dozens of treasured memories, and a whole lot of home cooking.

Now, the next phase of this is where things get fun, and tasty. You’ll notice some submissions have social handles in the corner of the page. When you make their recipe, tag them online and let them know you’ve read their story and have created made recipe!

And be sure to use #CollectiveCookbook so everyone can see your creation!

Remember your roots, celebrate your friends, and eat well.

Happy cooking,
Rachel Bush Founder, Honey & Hive Creations

*Some (me) argue this Coconut Cream Pie is the best pie in the world. It's also the last page of the Collective Cookbook!
